Dear Iðunn

We're leaving Dhaka, today, this evening...for the kite festival..

to fly the kite within us. I wanted to do a hub about it...

may be when I came back...I will come back home on 2nd March..

I will miss hubpages, and of course you...I was enjoying peoples comments...and your effort to promoting my art...thank you so very much my dear friend...

I promise you, I will bring you a beautiful hub from the coral island, St. Martins.

Cheers, Peace.

4th KITE FESTIVAL, 2008

Narikel Jinjira (St. Martins Island)

Workshop: 24-28 February

Festival: 29 February.

.

.

Few word about Kite Festival: We do Kite festival without any Sponsor, because we are shockingly watching that all most all notional days, festivals are becoming branded of different products, corporates and companies. So notional days and festivals are loosing it's color and spirit, so we have decided not to take so called "sponsor".

What we do, we do "Shora' (clay pot) art. ( traditional art on clay pot) and sale it to people...also sale souvenir T-shirts. Thats how we create funds for the materials of the kite festival, involving many others with it..

We each pay for our transport, resort, food and beverages.

Their will be two team. First Team will do design and make kite. (most of us free lance artist, their wifes, children) will go advance, Second team ...will meet later before festival, will fly the kites. also join tourists and hundreds of children of St. Martins Island

*Chhobir Haat (an open-air art gallery). One of the aims was to make art more affordable to general people and to give the new artists a platform to showcase their artworks. Now became a platform of Students, teachers, writers, journalists, art lovers, art critics and people from almost every corner of the society.

Cool! I agree that festivities loose their feeling due to so many affiliate sponsors!

I loved the t-shirt and the shoras ;)

p.s. - wish you a great KITE FESTIVAL!

Yes, it made front page here, the big cyclone. My heart goes out to so many lost lives and so many others displaced and struggling. I worried about you.
